Happy 18th Birthday Jas Min! Hope you enjoyed the birthday surprise we planned for you. Well, I’ll start from the preparation of Jas Min’s birthday surprise plan to the actual plan carried out. Yesterday, I went to the bookstore nearby with some others to shop for Jas Min’s birthday gift. We bought a sketch book for her since she loves to draw. She’s such a talented artist! Trust me, her drawings are really nice! We also bought a green vanguard sheet as we intend to make a birthday card using it. At about 7pm, I took the excuse of doing project in Sarah’s room to leave my room (actually, we did project as well). Yan Fang and I went to take away food for the rest while at the same time; we went to a bakery along 堕落街 to place an order for the birthday cake. The lady was really friendly! The good thing about this bakery is that they are efficient! You can just choose any design you want from a book showing various cake designs and the baker will get your customized cake ready in just an hour! Usually, in Singapore, you have to order beforehand or we can just simply choose the ready-made ones which are those displayed.
At around 9.30pm, Eddy, Cindy and I went to collect the cake. We went back and pretended as if we didn’t know anything. Meanwhile, the card was passing around for all of us to write our wishes.

Our plan was made known to everyone except the birthday girl, Jas Min. The plan goes like this… At 12 midnight, which is 7th Oct, everyone will gather outside our room. Yan Fang will hold the cake and knock on the door. To ensure that the person who answers it is Jas Min, I hid in the toilet beforehand while Cindy pretended to be so engrossed in watching her drama and did not hear the knocks. It works! In the end, Jas Min answered the door. As soon as she opened the door, I rushed out to switch off the toilet lights while Cindy is in charge of switching off the main lights in the room. Everyone started singing birthday song and Jas Min made a birthday wish. I passed my camera to Hana and she helped me with photo-taking. Thanks Hana! J

We then invited everyone to come in to our room and Jas Min distributed the cake to us. This is only the first part of our plan! Haha! Something entertaining happened after this. It’s a CREAM WAR between Yan Fang and Hana. Actually, it was supposed to be Jas Min to get a birthday bash. In the end, it ended up between Yan Fang and Hana. Well, it goes like this… Yan Fang was holding her plate full of cream which was folded into half. Then, Hana requested that Yan Fang open it. So, Yan Fang did it and the plate was so near to her face! Hana took the opportunity and smashed the cream onto Yan Fang. Immediately, Yan Fang took her revenge and smashed the cream back at Hana! After doing that, she quickly ran down to level 1. Haha! It was so fun watching it! J (Sorry, I’m bad! :P )

Then, Hana hid inside the bathroom of Yan Fang’s room, holding the plate full cream, waiting for Yan Fang! So, when Yan Fang went back to her bathroom, she got a shock! Hana was ever ready with the plate full of cream! However, Yan Fang acted fast and ran for her life! Haha! She ran to level 1 and hid in Faith’s room before Hana could attack. I heard that she ran down barefooted as there was no time for her to wear her shoes. Everyone was enjoying the show with Sarah, the popcorn provider distributing popcorn to us! She even has 2 different flavours, Sweet and Salted. That was really funny! J
Well, the show continued…Hana waited outside Faith’s room with the plate of cream, ready for the second attack! However, she accidentally smashed the cream onto Faith’s leg instead of Yan Fang. In the end, Hana gave up on waiting and she went back to wash up. This ended the exciting show! Sarah had to fetch Yan Fang and this took a long time as Yan Fang did not know that Hana was already in her own room. I guess this experience really scared her! She was trembling when Sarah fetch her back to her room.

The next day, we had a 2nd part of the birthday surprise ready for Jas Min. When she went down to the provision shop to buy biscuits, everyone gathered and we placed the card at the gate, with the gate closed. We then hid in our rooms. When Jas Min came back, she saw the card and everyone came out of our rooms and sang the birthday song for the 2nd time for Jas Min. We were telling Jas Min that that was the 2nd part of the surprise. Maybe there’s more for her to expect! Haha!

Reflection: Today is one of the best and fun days in Wuhan! It was my first time carrying out a surprise birthday plan for my friend and I totally enjoyed it! It was just so fun! I got to thank Sarah and Yan Fang for helping out to make this plan successful as it was really hard for both Cindy and I to come up with excuses so that our roommate, Jas Min will not get suspicious. With the help of everyone, this plan was a success. Thanks everyone and last but not least, HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY, JAS MIN! :D
