Hello! We had our campus orientation and shopping for some basic necessities today. Woke up at around 7.30am and had our breakfast. It was McDonald's ordered by the teachers.
We had McDonald's for our breakfast.
The pupils from Wuhan hanged their clothes at the corridor. This is a common sight in China but it is seldom seen in Singapore.
On our way to the different parts of the campus for the campus orientation. This is to allow us to familiarize ourselves with the school's environment and facilities.
We were laughing at this signboard when we saw it. It sounds funny when it's translated in English as Crazy Hospital instead of the initial School's hospital.

Map of the Wuhan University of School and Technology (WUST)
This is one of the canteens in the university. It's actually quite huge with ample of seats and the prices of the food are quite reasonable. We are each provided with a card for us to have our meals there.

Look at the prices of the food!

China post office located behind the tall trees.
Is this illegal in China? It's definitely not appropriate in Singapore.

Instant noodles are yummy!
An uncle scooping rice. I found something interesting about how rice are sold in China. They are actually sold in this manner where customers could scoop any amount they intend to buy. This is different from what we can see in Singapore, whereby rice are packed in a few standard sizes.
Their bottled drinks are much larger than those in Singapore too! Probably 2litres each?
Look at the packaging size of the crackers!

Reflections: This is the first time I’m overseas without my family for a considerably long period. I realized the importance of being independent when we are overseas. For instance, in Singapore, we will usually leave the shopping of basic necessities to our parents. However, in China, we have to do the shopping on our own. Another thing I learnt today is regarding communication barrier. I realized that when we are in a foreign country, we have to try to get used to their language, otherwise we will have a hard time conveying our ideas to the locals. Although I can speak mandarin and read Chinese characters, I still find it tedious to catch what some of the locals are trying to say. I guess it’s because of their accent. Oh btw, the local students are quite friendly too! :)
