Day 03 - Lessons and Exploring Wuhan

We had our first physiology lesson today! It was quite an interesting module. Since it was the first lesson today, Dr Lau gave us a short introduction on what Physiology is all about and so, lessons were quite light.

Dion bought drinks and cookies for everyone during the short break. Thanks!

During the lunch break, a group of us went to the school's canteen for lunch. It was the canteen i mentioned about in the post for Day 02, whereby cards instead of cash are accepted for payment. We realized many differences between Singapore and China within the short break we had. Firstly, the China students eat really fast. They would just buy their food, gobble them down and leave the canteen. Everything happens within 10-15 min. I wonder if they are really in a hurry or are they already used to doing this. Secondly, most of the China students would usually have their lunch alone. For instance, we saw many having lunch alone and they would occupy any available seats they found, even if the seat is between 2 strangers. Last but not least, the China students would not waste food! They would finish everything they bought. We were not able to do that. Perhaps we are just not used to the food. I shall illustrate this point with photos.

This dish was extremely oily and salty. It's known as 炸酱面 but it seems completely different from the usual one we commonly see. Jasmin and I bought this but we were sick of it and bought something else in the end.
Cindy's lunch: Egg & Ham Fried noodles.

Look at how long the beansprout is!
Rani's lunch: Spicy Ramen
Hana's lunch: Veggie fried noodles

Bought the rice instead since the noodles were really oily. Yan Fang and Sarah bought rice as well.
Eddy's lunch: Fried potato noodles.
He managed to finish everything.
Look at the amount of leftover food! We felt so bad about wasting our food but health is still the priority:)

After lunch, we headed back to the classroom for our OIE(Overseas Immersion Experience) module lesson. We watched the whole movie of Red Cliff 2! It was a nice show and it definitely has helped me to understand the history of China better. From the movie, I learnt about the different techniques/approaches the two opposing teams used to win the war and defeat their opponents. It was quite an interesting movie!:)

Food we ordered. We ordered four dishes, which are tomato with egg, veg, potato with pork & diced chicken. Overall, the food was not too bad. At least, it's better than what we had for lunch :) Guess how much we spent? The bill totals up to 40 RMB, which was really cheap for 7 of us!
Streets.
We bought Bubble tea from this shop. The shop owner was quite friendly:)

We bought 小笼包 as well. It costs only 3RMB for 8 pieces. Can you believe it?

Reflections: Living in another country as a foreigner allows me to know more about the country and how the locals lead their life. From this OIP, We are able to experience their way of life. I guess it’s common for everyone to get culture shocks no matter where we are, as long as we are away from our home country. For us, we experienced it today. An example will be the food. We are not used to some of the food in China. (Not all!:)) The best way to deal with this is to accept it and find alternative solutions for it. In fact, I think this is a good opportunity for us to know more about the life in China. Every country has a different culture! :)

That's all for Day 03! Stay tune for more updates. Bye! :)
